You will notice that it was built directly in front of the original building. The tower to the first building was removed, and the statue of the Bless- ed Virgin placed in a niche in the new tower. You can see the main portion of the first building showing behind this new strucutre, of which it now became a part. The first and second floor porches on the old building are much more visibile on this picture. A fire, which occured on May 12, 1911 totally destroyed both buildings. This second building was erected in 1890, so it was very new structure, when it burned. The wood-carved statue burned in the holocaust.
