(Notecard 1 side 1): Chalifoux, Andre (1789-1851) Chalifoux was a steersman "on the brigade bringing Fathers Blanchet and Demers west in 1838. His wife Catherine Russie, and several of their small children accompanied him three of the children were drowned by upsetting of the canoe above Fort of the Lakes. Lucie, born in 1839, died at the age 11 and was buried in the new brick church at in Dec. 1849 - St. P. II p. 24 St. Paul. (over) (Notecard 1 side 2): Chalifoux's widow, Catherine, married Hyacinthe Comartin. Of the Chalifoux daughters, Catherine married Charles Dupre? and Sophie married Xavier Martineau. Rose Christine m. Edouard Bellinger II. (dau. Edna m. Joseph Lavadour II) Chalifoux took a claim near the heart of French Prairie in 1840, became citizen in 1851 and died two weeks later, September 26, "aged 62." dau.
