Carpentier, Sophie c1826- Sophie's father, Charles Charpentier, had placed his motherless daughter in Jason Lee's Methodist Mission in September, 1835, hence the abjuration. Two years later her sister Angelica was also admitted. Their teacher, Cyrus Shepard wrote of them, "half- breed sisters, with sparkling black eyes and long curling hair." Their father was "late" at the time of Sophie's marriage to Cesaire Beaudoin in 1844, Michel Laframboise had been appointed their guardian. St. P. Bk. I p. 98. A son, Francois Xavier was born to Sophie in 1847; a two-year old son Joseph died the same year. Not Charles Charpentier, father of Sophie, who was "late" in 1844.
