Copies: 4 ( 4 copies newspaper clipping with copies of 3 images) "Effie Woodruff - - Effie was born and raised on a farm between Hubbard and Woodburn, Oregon. At age eighteen, she worked several years at Old Cottage Hotel in Salem. While working there, she met Lester Woodruff, from Pittsfeld, Mass. He was a clothing salesman. They married and had three sons--Clyde, Bert, and Edwin/ Clyde and Bert are deceased, but Edwin still lives in St. Paul, Oregon. In 1906, they moved to Albera, Canada, where they farmed and lived in a log house for four years, and then moved back to St. Paul. Lester was mail carrier there until he passed away in 1934. Effie did not remarry. She lived in St. Paul until 1969, and then moved in with her son Edwin She entered Woodburn Care Center in 1974. Effie has three nephews--Howard and Wayne Hovenden of Woodburn, Oregon, and Glenn Hovenden of Portland. She also has one grandson--Edwin Woodruff Jr. of Troutdale who married a Carol Smith from St. Paul. Effie will celebrate her 104th. birthday December 6th., of this year." |
