Card 1 side 1: Black, Samuel See Large Card Files OHQ. March 1956 - (Book review of Journal) p. 76 See Roberts, OHQ June-Sept. 1962 p. 190 Toluise, p. 342, mentions Alexander Black, son of the late S. Black, C.F., possibly (?) at R.R. academy. Theresa Truchot: Black's body, packed in salt and wrapped in hides, was to be brought down to Fort Vancouver for burial. The Indain bearers slipped in crossing a log over teh river (Thompson?), the salt dissolved and his body had to be interred Card 1 side 2: at once on teh banks of Monte Creek. Card 2 side 1: Black, Samuel (1785-1841) Born in Scotland. Served in X Y Co, N.W. Co., and HBC throughout the Canadian Northwest. He became Chief Factor at Fort Kamloops, serving at that post until murdered, apparently by one of his own Indians. 1834c-1854 His beautiful daugher, Mary Angelique, who is said to have inherited his red hair and Card 2 side 2: blue eyes, was educated in Oregon City and married Alexander Pambrun. by Rev.
