She will celebrate her sixth birthday September 23 in Chicago. Hope Science Can Explain Lima Case Chicago, Aug. 10. - (INS) - De- claring he expected to silence for all time skepticism greeting the announcemtn that a 5-year-old girl in Lima, Peru, had given birth to a normal child, Richard S. Kaplan, Chicago and Gary, Ind., attorney, said tonight he was going ahead with plans to bring the girl to the United States. He said the girl, her infant son and her father and mother will arrive in Chicago some time this month. He asserted there was no intention of placing the girl, Lina Medina, and her son, now more than a year old, on ex- hibition anywhere in the United States. The purpose, he asserted, was to permit a board of five experts with 'international reputation' to examine the girl and attempt to explain the birth. He said only accredited medical men wil be permitted to see the girl-mother. Kaplan said he represents the girl's family and also a group of Peruvian and American men in- terested in clearing the mystery that surrounded the reported birth." (front of orignal) |
