Turner, John - 1847 John Turner, American, said to have been large and powerful, was the survivor of three Indian massacres, two while on expeditions with Jedediah Smith and one with Ewing Young. Warfield, James 1811-1840-2C From Tenesee, convert, m. Lizette Oyer in 1840 (1818-1846) dau. of Charles Oyer and native. He evidently Wilkes exp. 1841-2 died soon; Lizette married Henry Black on Aug. 7, 1842, "by J.S. Griffin, at the house of Robert Newell before the congregation assembled in Divine Service".
